Feature Brand of the Week – Girl Jr Cosmetics

Hey, beauties! I’ve already introduced this brand on my Instagram, but I wanted to give you all something to really look at!

We all want the same things when it comes to cosmetics – quality, pigmentation, blendability, little to no fallout, a diverse assortment of shades, long-lasting products, and probably a few more characteristics could be thrown into that list. GirlJr Cosmetics gives us all of the things we want and….wait for it…affordable prices, to boot!

Before I get on a roll with visuals, I do want to talk a quick bit about indie brands and the people behind them. We don’t often meet – or even get to talk to – the people behind the cosmetics. We buy the products, use them, and maybe if there are any problems, we night reach out, but if there aren’t any problems, we don’t normally even know who’s behind the scenes of the cosmetics.

Ms. June is behind the scenes of GirlJr Cosmetics, and she’s a real-life, down-to-earth mama of three. She’s so down-to-earth, in fact, that you wouldn’t even know she owned her own line of cosmetics. When you talk to her, it’s like chatting with a dear, childhood friend.

From Chapped Lips to Cosmetics Brand

A southern gal, down in Louisiana, she started her cosmetics brand in her kitchen. Before it all started, her daughter struggled with chapped lips. Nothing seemed to work for her poor dry, cracked lips. One night, when her daughter had a friend sleeping over, June took to the kitchen and whipped up her own concoction of chap/lipstick for her daughter and her friend.

Needless to say, the girls raved about it! Her daughter’s friend mentioned that June should make more for them, and GirlJr Cosmetics blossomed from there.

Ms. June’s outgrown her kitchen at this point, though. I’m about to show you why.

What Does GirlJr Mean?

You may be wondering how she came up with the brand name. Ms. June was named after her Dad, so she thought the name GirlJr was perfect for her cosmetics brand.

To me, little things like that are important. I’ve always been one who liked to support small businesses, and in the cosmetics industry, that’s just as important to me. Sure, it’s nice to have the latest Too Faced or Tarte releases, but when you spend your money on indie cosmetic brands, you are helping to support a fellow makeup lover who brought their dream to sell cosmetics to fruition.

I’m not going to rant on and on, because I know what you’re all here for.

Swatches!!!!!

So, let’s get to the juicy stuff. You want to see swatches?

Introducing Rosie:

(Quick background change because a little girl was trying to get her little fingers in to do some swatches of her own.)

This is no primer, and very light swatches. I didn’t have to rub my fingers in the pans.

Aren’t those the perfect shades for autumn? And this palette is only $19.99!

Thirty-five shades! Twenty bucks! Talk about shook!

But, don’t despair if you’re just not into those shades! Ms. June has everyone covered, whether you want a nude palette or a brights palette, you can check out all her palettes here

There’s another common infatuation us makeup lovers have – Packaging, right!

So, check the lippies out:

Look at how wet these lippies are! They apply so nicely, wear all day long, and my lips don’t feel dry at all.

Perfectly shaped doe foot applicator and all. Would you believe they’re only $12? And have no fear if you want shades other than nude shades like these. She also has a blue called Denim and a gray called Graey Goose that I’m going to need to get my hands on, as well as several others. You can check out all her lippies here.

Take a gander over to the GirlJr Cosmetics Instagram page and tell Ms. June I sent you, or head to the website to see all her fabulous, inexpensive, yet super quality products.
